Lauren & Jane
When Mum-of-two Lauren Devere decided to redesign her son's bedroom she never anticipated that two years later she'd be launching a children's furniture company with fellow Mum Jane.
It was an idea born out of frustration. When Lauren began researching children's furnishings for her little boy's room, she was disappointed with the lack of quality products available. As an Agatha Christie fanatic, Lauren decided to investigate further and her search led her from her home-town in Lancashire to Yorkshire where her designs were realised and the products are now made.
Taking inspiration from a degree in Illustration and an understanding of children drawn from a career in children's TV, Lauren's products embody simple design and evocative motifs, which channel her own 70s childhood.
Born in an era when things were made to last, Lauren won't compromise on craftmanship and has been considerate and responsible in her choice of materials, focusing on FORMICA laminated European Birch Plywood. With our increasing awareness of sustainability and deforestation, Lauren celebrates the natural beauty of this engineered timber by exposing the cut edges. Complementing the wood, the FORMICA brings a clean, bright, retro aesthetic which appeals to our inner-child. Her vision has been brought to life with the help of friend and business consultant Jane Schofield, who's previous experience in recruitment, event and music promotion brings an added dimension to Little Grey Cells Design.
Lauren's ambition is clear: Simple, Stylish, Sustainable furniture that appeals to both children and adults.
